What I do here
I research and write the Where’s the Gold guides on Goldpan Pokies for readers in Australia. Callum Barwick is the pen name I write under; the portrait above is an illustration, not a photograph.
My job is the dull part that most pokie pages skip: finding where a number actually comes from. When a page says how the feature triggers, the source is Aristocrat’s own page or a document I can link to. When a venue is listed, I read it on that venue’s website and write down the date.
How I work
- Aristocrat first. The studio’s own game pages beat any review site, including this one.
- Say what’s missing. If Aristocrat doesn’t publish a figure, the page says that, rather than borrowing a number from a site that borrowed it from another site.
- Date everything. Each page shows when it was published and when I last checked it.
- No tips that don’t exist. I don’t write about “hot” or “due” machines. A pokie’s result is set by its random number generator on every spin.
What I don’t claim
I don’t hold a gaming licence, I’m not a regulator and I’m not a financial adviser. I’m an editor who reads primary sources carefully.
